wHAT IS ROLLER DERBY?

Roller derby is a points-based contact sport played by on quad skates around an oval track. The aim is to score more points than the opposition. How? The point-scoring skaters for each team (the jammers - they're the ones with a star on their helmet) score a point for each opposition player they pass. The opposition players, the blockers, don't want to give up their point. They'll fight for it, stopping the opposing jammer by getting in her way, trapping her or knocking her down.
